Good morning. Loved your blog and after going back and forth on where to go, I decided as a single female to go to Phinda for safari.
I am now being told there is a single person supplement of 50% which is so disappointing and unfortunate. Have you run into this as well?
Any other suggestions in South Africa that may compare??
Thank you.

It is pretty standard in the safari industry and one of the things that annoyed me the most about being a single traveller. There are a few lodges that waive single supplements, but I have found that they are few and far between in South Africa. I sucked it up and paid in most instances. I think Phinda is one of the best value for money options (even with the single supplement) and is the best place in South Africa to see cheetah. If you are looking for other options, I would suggest looking at lodges that cater to South African clientele. While I cannot recommend anything specific the Timbivati and Madikwe may be good options and Getaway magazine will likely have some good suggestions. I have been meaning to write a post rallying against the single supplement for sometime, but your comment has inspired me to do so. Good luck on deciding on a place to go! Going on safari is absolutely my favorite vacation and I am sure you will enjoy it.
